Tableau Public:

Tableau public is a free program where you can access text file, Excel, access, pdf, Json, Spatial, Statistical, Odata, Google Sheets and Web Data Connector.

Advantages:

• Free for All

Limitations:

• Limited Data source connections
• 100000 rows data limit.
• Save to public online/Digital only.

Tableau Desktop:

Is a authoring tool where you can develop reports, Dashboards, stories.

Advantages:

• Allows you to save files in your local system.
• Additional data connection options (file, databases, cloud, big data etc.)
• No data size limits.

Limitation: Required Licensing.

Tableau Server:

Publish dashboards with Tableau Desktop and share them throughout your organization with Tableau Server. (Collaboration, Sharing, Centralize Data Source, Security, Data to right people )
Advantages:

• From tableau 10x users can create, edit and publish workbooks without the need of Tableau Desktop. 
• Data sources and metadata can be published and maintained in Tableau Server, thereby creating a Single Source Of Truth.
• Tableau Server can be used to manage access to published content to help protect Valuable data. Administrators can set user permissions on projects, workbooks, views Dashboards and data sources.

Limitation:

• Required Licensing.

Tableau Online: 

A fully hosted solution of tableau server for storing and accessing data dashboards in the cloud.

Advantages:

• No need of create infrastructure. Maintain by tableau.

Tableau Digital/public online: 

Tableau Public is a free application and visualization hosting service for sharing of publicly available data on the Web.

• Best for NGO, Journalist, Blogger.

Tableau Reader: 

A free application that allows users to open saved Tableau workbook files (.twbx) and to view and interact with visualizations. In Tableau Reader cannot create new viz or Modify, edit any existing Vizs.

Tableau Mobile: 

Is a Mobile application which helps your organization to access published vizs,dashboards or stories in your mobile by sign in.
